Fighting For Women

The decision of the supreme court to overturning of Roe v. Wade and undo fifty years of settled law is an outrage. It has set women back to a dark time when we had almost no rights as individuals! We will not go quietly back to the dark ages! A women's right to choose what happens to her body is fundamental to equality.  Everyone has the right to bodily autonomy and privacy in healthcare. The extreme religious views of a minority of people are being used as a weapon toward the resurgence of oppression. Now that this issue is in the hands of state government to regulate, we must have representatives that share the values that protect our right to choose what is best for us and our families.

Inspiring Change

We need leadership that will stand up to lobbyists and big corporations and start putting protection of our environment first!

Protest Signs

Our environment is under siege. The overdevelopment that is taking place is in our region is truly alarming. The ground destabilization that is being caused by clear cutting trees to make way for huge communities is taxing our already inadequate infrastructure and causing undue burden to existing residents. Additionally, it is displacing our wildlife and threatening many already endangered species by destroying what little natural habitat they have left. Our water is polluted with forever chemicals and heavy metals and is unfit to drink. Meanwhile, big corporations, developers, and corporate farmers have undue influence gained by high dollar donations to lawmakers who favor their projects. I'm tired of lawmakers that continually put greed over need.

Equality Matters

What I Believe In

I believe that everyone deserves to to express themselves in a way that brings them joy.

That every child is entitled to a quality education and that our educators should be valued.

That all of us must have the ability to freely and fairly participate in our

democracy and that we must all be represented equally.

That the good of the many outweighs the good of the few.

About Jill Brown

I like to say that I am a "Jill of all trades" having a diverse work history.

I had my first child at 21 and soon after became a single mom. I worked many jobs to provide for my young family including server & bartender, Harley Davidson motorcycle sales, Bell Atlantic service & installation technician and more. I know the value of hard work and the struggles of working people & families.

I remarried at 32 and had my 2nd child at age 34. I was always dedicated to my children's school & sports and volunteered in every capacity possible. My family was personally affected by the tragedy of 9/11 which launched my dedication to public service & healthcare. I worked as an EMT, volunteered as an auxiliary police officer, and served as treasurer for the New Milford Vol. Ambulance Corps. I was also active in the New Milford-Teaneck Elks Club & served as a board member in the Elks Ladies Auxiliary.

At age 42, I earned a BSN at New York’s Dominican College of Blauvelt and graduated cum laude. I then worked in critical care settings, primarily in Cardiovascular ICU at Hackensack University Medical Center.

In 2011, I moved to NC to open a restaurant. The Yacht Basin Eatery opened in 2012 and became a beloved community gathering place for years.

I have always been dedicated to environmental protection and I spearheaded the anti-straw movement in coastal communities and eliminated all single use plastics from my waterfront restaurant and I was recognized by the Chirping Bird Society for my dedication.

In 2022, I co-founded the advocacy group, “We Will Not Go Back Coastal NC” to fight for women’s reproductive freedom, provide women with resources and information about medication abortion, and support services. In 2020 I launched a small craft beverage, Cape Fear Alchemy. My husband and I manufacture gourmet Bloody Mary Mix which is retailed in multiple stores and shops in Brunswick County.

I am committed to protecting equal rights for women and LGBTQ+ individuals, restoring reproductive freedom, and serving and elevating marginalized communities. I will work to protect our public school system and return tax dollars to public schools where they belong. I will stand up against the far right MAGA republicans to protect and expand access to fair elections. I will work to slow the rapid growth and development in our communities and make developers pay to for infrastructure upgrades that are needed to support it, not the taxpayers.

I look forward to serving North Carolinians and helping create a society that is fair, safe and inclusive.
